- Education reform: We
cannot wait years to fix the failing schools
sacrificing the futures of our kids. Schools should
be responsible to parents. Charter schools would a
major step in the right direction. With management
decisions transferred to parents all issues can be
addressed more effectively: school safety, after
school programs, improved curriculum, waste.
Using a mostly rare illness “Attention Deficit
Disorder” as an excuse and drugging the kids is an
inexplicable crime. It is serving as an all-purpose
scapegoat. Parents: reclaim your children. Let’s
work together to bring change.

- Repeal the Rockefeller Drug Laws
The harshest provision of this statute mandates that
a judge impose a prison term of no less than 15
years to life for anyone convicted of selling 2
ounces or possessing 4 ounces of a narcotic
substance. The penalties apply without regard to the
circumstances of the offense, making it irrelevant
whether the person is a first-time or repeat
offender.
Even for any minor marijuana conviction youngsters
are becoming ineligible for college financial aid.
We can not wage a war against our kids, against our
future.
— The Rockefeller Drug Laws are racist, ineffective,
wasteful and unjust. It is
long past time for their repeal.
- Restore the leadership role of government
I believe in community, in helping each other during
an emergency, in supporting worthy causes like
assistance for blind, job placement, shelter and
food for the needy. But let’s not fool ourselves by
assuming that city agencies can do or should do
these functions. Not only they make it worse in many
cases, but also waste most of the funds raised in
doing so.
If you had an extra dollar to give to a charity,
would you give it to your church, your neighbor red
cross or a city agency controlled by people who have
no idea what the true needs of your neighborhood
are?
