Dear Friend,
It is a great honor to introduce myself to you as
your candidate. I am running for City Council in
district 20, Flushing, Queens. I am a candidate
that would like to represent ALL the people
in my district. For this reason, I am the most qualified
candidate.
I am a resident of Flushing, for 22 years, and a
recipient of a Masters degree in Social Science.
The following items are on my priority list: Quality
of life is very important- A quality education
is important for all age groups. We need to increase
funding, and correct unproductive learning environments
by reducing class sizes. We need qualified teachers,
and we need to increase the salary of our educators.
We need part time, and graduate tuition for college
students. We need a full time faculty and counselors,
such as academic advisors. Safety in our neighborhoods-
and in our schools is crucial. We need after school
programs for children and youth. We need local social
cultural programs that will integrate the concept
of promoting unity and diversity in our community.
Childcare facilities need improvement. We need to
build new centers and repair the current centers.
We must stop Gang wars and prostitution in our community.
We need to create special programs based on Drug
prevention and Aids awareness. Affordable housing-
should include an equal opportunity to own a home.
We need to allow equal access to government developments
that are being built in our community to all ethnic
groups. Tenants and homeowners should never suffer
from a lack of representation based on environmental
issues. Legislation and policies that may cause
detrimental effects must be changed. New construction
and funding for affordable housing is needed. Home
care service such as workers for senior citizens
should be carefully screened to assist the aging.
Health issues- are a major concern, medical
facilities are under funded resulting in lower level
services.
