With my mission of
hope, I promise political innovation in our 31st
Councilmatic District. Everyone is equal and must be
treated as such to create a community of openness.,
integrity and hope.
Recently we witnessed a situation in which hundreds
of parents camped out overnight at P.S. 231 in the
hope of securing a space for their children in the
Magnet School Program. That was sad. I
believe in equal rights and equal opportunity for
all. The time has come to change this unproductive
and divisive kind of leadership and management into
a more desirable and productive style.
As a developer, I am familiar with the serious need
for quality and affordable housing, not only for
sale, but for rental in this District, and I will
endeavor to use my knowledge and experience to
harness greater resources for the satisfaction of
these needs. I will advocate for the building of low
income housing and grants to assist low income
families to purchase homes. I am aware of the
flooding problems which affect so many residents
whenever it rains heavily in some areas of my
District, and I will continue to fight vigorously to
solve these problems as well.
There is an old saying ‘prevention is better than
cure’. Crime prevention begins at home, and the
extension of home is our schools. It is therefore
important to start the process of prevention at home
and at schools. As your councilman, I will work with
the parent/teacher association, teachers and the
security forces to develop meaningful guidelines in
fostering good behavior and discipline at an early
age.
I will advocate for the following:
- Better quality education.
