Luis Rosero was born
and raised in Corona, Queens. He began his public
service in 1994 with Congresswoman Velazquez. While
working for Congress, Rosero fought to bring in
federal dollars improving education, healthcare,
veteran, and senior citizen services. Rosero worked
alongside Queens District Attorney Richard Brown’s
office to develop anti-money laundering legislation,
which President Clinton signed into law in 1998.
In 1999, Luis Rosero was appointed by President
Clinton to the White House Initiative on Educational
Excellence for Hispanic Americans. Luis’s goal
was to increase the level of educational attainment
and increase college and graduate school enrollment
of Hispanic Americans.
Following his work on education, Luis worked for
U.S. Labor Secretary Alexis Herman. Mr. Rosero worked
on issues concerning worker safety, increasing the
minimum wage, fair labor practices, pension and
retirement coverage, and promoting equal pay for
women.
Luis Rosero moved to work for the Democratic National
Committee (DNC) as National Deputy Press Secretary
and Communication Director for the National Hispanic
Outreach Office. During the presidential election
recount in Florida, Luis worked for Vice President
Gore and Senator Joe Lieberman.
Luis left his position at the Democratic National
Committee to run for the 21st Council District.
Rosero’s goals are: smaller classrooms, higher standards,
increased funding for preschool and after school,
and build new and modern schools. Luis Rosero seeks
to raise the minimum wage, ensure equal pay for
women, protect workers rights, and bring jobs to
our communities. Rosero seeks to help senior citizens
by lowering the cost of prescription drugs, fund
new senior centers, and provide safe and affordable
housing.
Luis Rosero will fight to keep our streets safe
and work toward improving the quality of life. This
includes, civil and social justice against all intolerance,
racism and anti-semitism.
