The fight to preserve our environment
for our community and for my two daughters is
my primary motivation for entering into public
service. I have been leading the fight against
the five new power plants slated for our already
over burdened community. As Pro Bono legal counsel
for CHOKE, I recently won a Supreme Court decision
stopping construction of NYPA’s new turbines in
Long Island City. As Councilman, my highest priority
will be continuing this fight for the survival
of our community.
I have been actively involved with groups helping
children (especially at risk children) for over
twenty years. I have the hands-on experience necessary
to improve our school system. More importantly,
I have two daughters (ages 5 and 7) in the Public
School System. There is no concern like the concern
of a parent, and, as Councilman, I will make sure
our children receive the best education possible.
While Speaker Vallone’s Safe City, Safe Streets
program has made a difference, the fight against
crime must continue to be a priority. I was a
prosecutor with the Manhattan District Attorney’s
office for over six years, and prosecuted thousands
of criminals. I am the only candidate with any
experience in this crucial area, and I know what
it takes to keep crime down. It does not take
new laws, it takes enforcement of the existing
ones. It takes more community police, and it takes
longer sentences. As Councilman, I will fight
to ensure that these criminals are kept off our
streets for as long as possible.
