Because of its economic and social diversity, the 9th council district, that comprises Harlem and the Upper West Side is a microcosm of our city. As such, all of the city’s challenges are evident in our district. I believe that working together with our community and business leaders, we can make a powerful contribution to our city’s future.
The city’s $3.9 billion deficit instructs us that current practices and polices will only worsen quality of life in our communities. I believe that unusual times and circumstances demand bold leadership that can summon the support of a wide range of stake holders -- including local community organizations, federal and state government, and the business community -- to lead the economic recovery we all deserve.
I’m running because my professional background and my constituency service experience make me uniquely suited to represent our district at this time of fiscal crisis. I believe that a vote for this candidate is a vote for the long-term fiscal health of our district; it is a vote for a clean, safe environment with affordable housing and an effective educational system. It is a vote for empowering tomorrow’s workforce, homeowners and taxpayers.
In 2001, the voters of this district acknowledged their concern about status quo leadership by voting in favor of term limits. I believe that this year, voters can send a message that in a democracy the outcome of duly held elections is inviolable. In this election, let your call for change be heard. % jinimac@aol.com 917-582-8111
