1. What is the most important issue in Council District 41 you would address if elected?

My purpose is to build, restore and safeguard the communities of the 41st District. A good, public education for our children is a civil right. I will continue my work to improve schools, encourage the development of better options, and attract new schools focused on science, technology and art. Education is the greatest deterrent to crime. Schools in our neighborhoods don't receive the kind of support others get. I will fight to change that and strengthen the parent voice across the city.

2. What other important issues would you address if elected?

Part of my three-pronged approach to build, restore and safeguard the community is to address two urgent problems: gun violence and unemployment. The residents of the 41st have been suffering with a 20% unemployment rate. I will work to create jobs by attracting new businesses, and organizations devoted to job training. There is no advancement in quality of life without the preservation of life. This year's first summer days saw 25 senseless shootings. Passing stronger gun laws and improving enforcement is a necessity.

3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?

In District 41, we are in crisis. I've spent a career serving my community with non-profit and healthcare organizations. I'm raising two kids here just as my Caribbean parents raised me. Our quality of life is held hostage by crime, poor schools, unemployment and failed leadership. We deserve better. I am committed to building our community through education skills building, restoring jobs and safeguarding our streets from the horror of gun violence. With stronger leadership and collaboration, together we can build a brighter future for our families.
