The 18th Council District
is home to a host of people with different ethnic,
economic, religious and social backgrounds. We are
different, and yet we are the same. In the midst
of our cultural diversity, we all share common concerns.
No matter whether we rent or own our homes; whether
we are Latino, African-American, White or Asian;
or whether we worship at a mosque, synagogue or
church; we all strive for many of the same things
in life.
We strive to make a living wage; to live in clean,
affordable housing; to be free from the fear of
crime and governmental excesses in our communities;
and to provide our children with a quality education
that will prepare them for the future. But we cannot
secure these blessings without a strong voice in
local government. I want to be that voice.
I know that I am up to the task, and others familiar
with my record agree. That is why Former Senator
Larry Seabrook and City Councilman Larry Warden
have now endorsed my candidacy.
I want to be your voice in the City Council. I pledge
to work hard and listen to your concerns, to be
honest and lead through consensus—to fight the good
fight on behalf of you and your families. I ask
for your help; I give you my commitment.
