The people of Southeast Queens
have a tradition of electing effective representatives
to serve them in the City Council. Leroy G. Comrie
wants to continue this tradition.
Leroy has served the 27th Council District as
Deputy Majority Leader Archie Spigner’s Chief
Aide. His intimate involvement with all levels
of government resulted in gains for the community
and provided him with the experience that will
be critical at a time of vast turnover in legislative
leadership and potential downturn in the City’s
economy.
As a homeowner, married with two school age children,
Leroy Comrie has the incentive and ability to
provide the kind of quality leadership we need
at this time.
Leroy’s priorities continue
to include:
Economic Development: incentives for local
entrepreneurs - revitalization of commercial strips
Education: working
with all involved parties for the reclamation
and rebirth of our public schools
Public Safety- eliminate
gangs, protect our quality of life and improve
community police relations.
Youth: expand funding
of youth groups--create new Beacon School -- after
school activities in every school
Seniors: increased
funding for senior protective services, emergency
home repair and Loan programs
Infrastructure: continue to ensure that
our streets/sewers/ parks have the necessary funding.
Environment: Continue
to ensure that the State’s Department of Environmental
Conservation monitors our toxic sites
Endorsements: Council
Members Archie Spigner & Helen Marshall, Congress
Member Gregory Meeks, State Senators Ada &
Malcolm Smith, Assembly Members William Scarborough
& Pauline Cummings, SEIU 1199, D.C. 37, A.T.U.1056,
Central Labor Council, C.W.A.1180
“I am a product of the community,
raised by the community and I want to continue
giving back to the community. Together, with your
vote, we can take the necessary actions to sustain
the viability of our ever changing community.”
