I have lived in this community for twenty-six
years where my husband and I raised our three
children. Our neighborhood stands on strong community
values, good work ethics and education.
Our schools are severely overcrowded. As a community
school member I have always led the fight to alleviate
overcrowding by finding space to build new schools
or adding additions to existing buildings. More
importantly, we must maintain these buildings
in order to prevent them from deteriorating. Children
need to be in a safe and pleasant learning environment.
Many of our New York City teachers and police
officers are leaving for the suburbs for higher
salaries. We are losing hard working qualified
employees because they are not receiving equitable
pay. We must retain our veteran employees and
attract newly qualified people by giving them
competitive salaries. If we don’t resolve this
issue soon, the quality of life in New York City
will decline significantly.
I believe senior citizens should always be remembered
when it comes to services and benefits. Senior
citizens have given so much to the city to make
it a better place to live; it is time to make
sure their senior years are “GOLDEN”.
Laws that govern our quality of life issues such
as illegal dumping, car deft, noise, and graffiti
vandalism should be enforced more aggressively.
If elected to the City Council, I will give constituent
service high priority and promise to be a full
time legislator.
