1. What is the most important issue in Council District 23 you would address if elected?
My top priorities include the provision of a high-quality education for all New York City children and ensuring that the Department of Education includes parents in the discussions about their child's education. We have to shift the focus to real learning by limiting the influence of standardized test preparation on our children's education.
2. What other important issues would you address if elected?
Other important issues to me include open government, which creates a dialogue between the public and elected officials. I want to foster the conversation between the community and its leaders. I will continue with programs such as participatory budgeting, which allows the community to choose local capital spending projects to be funded in City budget.
3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?
I am proud of my nineteen years of service in state and local government, and I have always felt honored to represent one of the most diverse districts in the country. I will continue to use my position to bridge the gaps among communities and make District 23 one of the strongest in the city.
