The Daily News calls Ken Fisher
one of the most effective members of the NYC Council.
That’s no surprise to Ed Koch, Hugh Carey, Ruth
Messinger, Rev. Floyd Flake, Liz Holtzman and
U.S. Reps. Nydia Velazquez, Ed Towns, Jerry Nadler
and Carolyn Maloney. They’ve all endorsed Ken
because he fights for us. Big tobacco, gun manufacturers
and corporate polluters—Ken took them on and won.
As Borough President, Ken Fisher will make
sure that Brooklyn gets its fair share, because
as a Brooklyn native and parent, he wants only
the best for us.
Fighting for our fair share of education funding.
Councilman Ken Fisher won hundreds of millions
of dollars to reduce class sizes and fix crumbling
school buildings.
Stopping big tobacco from advertising to kids.
Ken Fisher took on Philip Morris, writing
a law to prevent big tobacco companies from targeting
advertisements to kids.
Keeping guns out of children’s hands. Ken Fisher
stood up to the NRA, calling for gun manufacturers
to be held accountable for gun violence. He’s
worked to require Brooklyn gun dealers to sell
only guns with childproof trigger locks.
Giving kids after-school activities. Ken Fisher
knows that kids can get into trouble if they don’t
have anywhere to go and have nothing to do. That’s
why he’ll work to keep Brooklyn’s schools open
from 3-6 p.m.
Standing up against environmental racism. Ken
Fisher won’t allow corporate polluters to
turn African-American, Latino and other working
class neighborhoods into toxic dumping grounds.
Thanks to him, plans for garbage-burning incinerators
were stopped.
Making health care available. Ken Fisher will
fight City Hall to guarantee that none of Brooklyn’s
hospitals are closed.
Opposing bombing on Vieques, Puerto Rico. Ken
Fisher knows the U.S. Navy’s bombing is destroying
the environment and contributing to the highest
cancer rates in Puerto Rico. That’s why he’s been
protesting the bombing with Congresswoman Nydia
Velazquez—and he’ll continue doing so until the
Navy stops.
