Throughout his 20 years
of public service, Tony Avella has made a difference
in every part of Northeast Queens. He’s worked to
keep our streets safe, eliminate graffiti, and prevent
car theft. He has fought to ensure that our Little
League, Soccer, and Roller Hockey teams have fields
to play on. He went after the hate mongers who put
up Neo-Nazi stickers in our neighborhood.
Tony Avella worked for Councilman Peter Vallone,
was Mayor Ed Koch’s Queens Representative and was
Special Assistant to the late State Senator Leonard
Stavisky. His experience in handling constituent
issues and legislation will be invaluable as an
elected official.
In the City Council, Tony Avella will continue the
efforts to reduce crime in our community. He will
work tirelessly to get our schools the resources
to lower class size and attract and retain the best
teachers. Tony will continue his work to preserve
the quality of life of our residential neighborhoods.
Tony Avella will work to improve traffic safety
and fight for a new police precinct to cover College
Point, Whitestone and Bay Terrace. He will oppose
the Building Department’s efforts to fine legal
homeowners. He will fight for senior citizen services
and that every community has it’s own senior center.
Tony Avella has been honored by: Jewish War Veteran’s
Queens County Council, Marcus Aurelius Lodge of
the Sons of Italy, Police Department, U.S. Post
Office, Borough President Claire Shulman and the
Audubon Society.
Tony Avella knows how to get results. That is why
Congressman Joseph Crowley, State Senator Toby Stavisky,
Assemblywomen Nettie Mayersohn and Ann Margaret
Carrozza, and Assemblyman Mark Weprin and dozens
of other elected officials and community leaders
have endorsed Tony Avella for the City Council.
