Louisa Chan became actively involved when
her younger daughter started school in Elmhurst.
She served as President of the Parents’ Association,
and brought parents from diverse backgrounds together
for the benefit of the children. In 1993, she
was elected to the Community School Board, and
has since been re-elected twice to its three-year
terms. She believes in fighting for a better education
for our children through putting money into the
classrooms to recruit and retain good teachers.
Louisa is a registered nurse performing inspection
of hospitals and health care facilities for the
New York State Department of Health. She knows
our health care problems, and will take an active
role in addressing them.
Louisa is also concerned about more effective
use of our tax dollars. She wants to see better
coordination of construction and city services.
She wants to work on reducing pollution, including
noise pollution, and other quality of life issues.
She would like to see more police presence in
the community to ensure safer streets. She is
against corruption, and has been outspoken against
discrimination of any kind.
