As a City Council
member, I aim to improve human standards: Reduce
over-crowded classrooms, increase certified teachers.
Eliminate disciplinary problems that disrupt learning.
Expand programs to encourage youth to higher education
and vocational training. Equip schools with latest
computer technology. Ensure schools’ staff and administration
reflect the communities they serve. Secure city
funding to expand quality day-care programs, assist
working, single parents, and for minority and immigrant
children to benefit from head start, and for senior
citizen programs.
I will improve quality of life of
the underserved: Re-zone communities to stimulate
development and affordable housing. Fix sewer
and flooding problems. Clean up parks, streets,
public spaces, and create safe, suitable facilities
for recreation, sports, and cultural activities
that reflect our diversity.
I will be sensitive to the needs
of disadvantaged: Upgrade and sufficiently staff
immigration and civic service agencies to ensure
proper procedure and dissemination of key information
that affects lives, especially of Housing and
Buildings.
I reach and serve people of all
ethnic backgrounds. My own law practice has grown
because of my vision, innovation, determination
and commitment to raising the standards of excellence,
so my community may flourish. I believe I am a
positive role model for Queens.
