Ken Diamondstone has spent much of his
life defending those without a voice as a seasoned
and effective community leader and coalition builder.
Diamondstone is also the only entrepreneurial
candidate, a developer of socially responsible
housing.
Ken has a vision of New York as an urban leader
in environmental stewardship; a “green”
city. This vision serves as the framework for
his innovative positions on transportation, renewable
energy, waste management, building code changes,
increasing open space, and economic development.
Ken also makes an urgent call to improve healthcare,
affordable housing, “voucherless” education,
and new protection for seniors and people with
disabilities.
Ken’s close relationship to the City’s “decision
makers” helped him achieve significant victories
for Brooklyn’s Neighborhoods.
Some highlights;
- 105 Units of senior housing
- 35,000 meals for people with HIV/AIDS
- A vital new scholarship at the Brooklyn Music
School
- Doubling revenues of a not-for-profit local
development corporation to better serve the
community and local merchants
- Helped abort Guiliani’s plan to direct residential
garbage to Brooklyn’s water front communities.
Ken remains unencumbered by machine politics.
He is pro-choice, anti-death penalty; someone
who risked speaking when others were too timid.
He’ll work tirelessly for the LGBT communities.
He’ll harness the enormous talent in our city
to create new jobs.
Ken will work for greater transparency, increased
participation, and democratized leadership in
the new City Council.
