Anthony Pugliese is a life-long resident
of Carroll Gardens and an activist in the community
and labor movement. As former VP of the P.S. 58
PTA and having served on the school planning committee,
Anthony’s number one priority is to improve the
quality of education. A believer of strong parent-teacher
relationships, Anthony proposes instituting his
Parents As Volunteer Educators initiative, P.A.V.E.
Anthony advocates increasing teacher wages so
the 39th district can compete with surrounding
districts to provide the most qualified teachers.
As a parent, Anthony has also made providing
honest law enforcement and reducing crime important
issues of his campaign. Anthony firmly believes
that providing honest law enforcement is only
possible when the police and the community work
together.
As a Union Organizer and a 26-year member of
the NYC Carpenters Union, Anthony fights to protect
the rights of working men and women in our neighborhood.
Anthony will fight to provide safe, affordable
housing for the middle class and senior citizens.
Anthony recommends providing more housing while
creating additional parks and recreational outlets
for our children, especially along the Gowanis
Canal.
Anthony advocates providing funds to repair the
Gowanis Expressway while researching a tunnel
alternative. Anthony also favors increased funding
for our parks. Most importantly, Anthony will
serve as a voice of the people and pledges to
hold open forums to provide citizens an opportunity
to discuss neighborhood problems.
