Yvette D. Clarke has
a 15-year record of accomplishments and legislative
experience that is in keeping with her family’s
long-standing tradition of community service, leadership
and activism. She will bring to the 40th Council
District her own unique brand of practical and innovative
leadership that is complimented by a new millennium
world outlook.
Ms. Clarke has gained a wealth of political and
legislative knowledge serving as legislative aide
to New York State Senator Velmanette Montgomery,
and as executive assistant to New York State Assemblywoman
Barbara Clark. She has put this valuable experience
at the service of the Brooklyn community where
she was born and raised.
Ms. Clarke is a competent business manager who
administered the $51 million budget of the Bronx
Empowerment Zone that resulted in the revitalization
and economic development of the south Bronx. The
marriage of political and legislative experience
with economic and business savvy makes Yvette
Clarke the ideal candidate for the 40th Council
District.
As a City Council member, Ms. Clarke will fight
to improve the quality of public education in
the 40th District by developing strategies to
recruit and pay top-quality teachers, and increase
school resources. She will be a strong and uncompromising
advocate for quality, affordable health care services
for all.
Ms. Clarke has the ability to attract hard-working
young people to her platform and to harness their
energies for community development. She will work
to heal old wounds, build bridges of understanding
and foster a spirit of community togetherness
that will cut across all immigrant, social, economic,
religious and racial lines.
