NYC Campaign Finance Board Statement on President Trump's Proposed Delay to the 2020 Election
07/30/2020
The NYC Campaign Finance Board's Executive Director Amy Loprest issued the following statement:
"The United States will hold a free and fair national election on November 3. We have done so during other challenging periods in our history including the Civil War, World War II, and even the Spanish Flu pandemic. Voting by mail is safe and secure and has the same protections from fraud as in-person voting. Five states run their elections entirely by mail and others have expansive absentee voting laws. The incidence of potential fraud in those states is vanishingly low. The state legislature has passed reforms to ensure voters safety in November and we urge Governor Cuomo to sign those bills."
