1. What is the most important issue in Council District 48 you would address if elected?

Resolving the impact of Superstorm Sandy is by far the most critical issue facing our community. Since the storm, I've been helping to resolve Sandy-related issues on a day-to-day basis: coordinating projects with contractors, home owners, businesses, and all relevant City agencies. With millions in federal dollars set aside to help cover costs of reconstruction, the City is charged with administering the money. Ensuring this help gets to where it's needed -especially to seniors, and our most vulnerable- will require coordination with numerous City agencies; the same agencies I work with on a daily basis.

2. What other important issues would you address if elected?

Seniors, Affordable housing, Community investment: I support programs that allow individuals to receive in-home care, and full funding for senior services. In regard to housing, we must ensure access to housing that is safe, stable and affordable. I support maintaining or reducing the property tax rate, and the continued amendment of the NYC Housing Maintenance Code. Lastly, the City budget is a powerful tool that can be directed at a variety of fundamental community projects, such as roads, parks, housing, and community groups. I will be a tireless advocate for our fair share.

3. What makes you the best candidate for this office?

My community ties run deep, my work ethic is tireless, and I have established lines of communication with the agencies and community leaders who will help move us forward. A graduate of Sheepshead Bay HS, the issues facing our community are deeply personal for me. The son of immigrants, I know what can be accomplished through perseverance and hard work. Our community needs a champion, and I'll be ready for the job on Day 1.
