My vision is to be
a catalyst in the communities in the 31st Council
District, who marshals the citizens and other resources
for issue identification and resolution. In the
process, I intend to broaden participation to take
advantage of the multitude and diversity of talent
in the entire district. I believe that greater participation
provides greater potential for success in addressing
issues.
While I have my views and concerns, I will seek
consensus within the communities regarding pressing
issues. Problem solving requires buy-in from those
who are affected by the issue or concern.
From my more than thirty years as a community
volunteer in the district and now, as Democratic
Female District Leader, I have identified a number
of shared issues and concerns. Many of these issues
involve our youth, my number one priority. Our
youth need improved educational instruction, but
more fundamentally they need better health care,
a greater sense of morals, public decorum and
civic responsibility. I intend to be a catalyst
for responding to these needs. Similarly, I intend
to be a catalyst for solutions and programs in
the areas of Senior Citizen care, noise abatement,
environmental pollution and economic development.
There are sufficient resources in the communities
and within government to generate positive responses
and solutions for these and other issues. I plan
to be a catalyst, a quarterback who helps to make
it happen.
