As, a life long resident,
I am aware of the lack of representatives who are
conscious to our needs. Our Environment, housing,
Schools, Transportation and other essential services
have steadily declined as our representatives have
stood by.
I have been concerned with the economic and social
disadvantages which exist in our district. Therefore,
I have spent my adult-life working on trying to
improve the quality of life in the neighborhood.
Working in local non- profit agencies and volunteering
in organizations which delivered much needed services
to area residents.
City Council district 10, covers 159th - 228st.
The area has experienced a decline in services since
it was reapportioned. Primarily, because of the
inability of the elected officials to properly represent
us.
As, a city council member, I will work to resolve
these issues. I will work vigorously to make sure
that city agencies are more responsive to the needs
of our community. With the new charter the city
council was granted more power over city agencies.
Oversight of city agencies is essential, in making
city-agencies more responsive to the people they
serve.
I will work on the creation of affordable housing
and the preservation of existing. Improving education
by upgrading our schools, encouraging better working
relations between parents and school personnel and
holding administrators accountable. Increasing the
number of health care professionals and clinics.
I will support clinics to operate for 24 hours because
there is only one hospital for people needing medical
attention.
I am seeking elective office because I know I can
provide the kind of leadership our district needs
and I want to bring many needed resources. Our district
is very diverse yet our needs are all the same.
We need a representative who is aware of these facts
and will work in promoting our interests.
