As a City Council Member
of the 45th Councilmanic District, I will make Education,
Health, Public Safety, and Employment my top priorities.
Education:
- Repair crumbling schools,
and build new ones to ease the overcrowding
problem.
- Reduce class size to a maximum
of 18 children in grades K-3, with 2 adults-
One Teacher and an Educational Assistant.
- Ensure all classes are adequately
furnished with supplies including, and a library.
- Provide incentives for teachers,
and increase their salary competitive to suburban
schools.
- Provide on-going seminars
for Teachers, and training sessions for Parents.
Health:
- Fund City Hospitals, to
provide universal healthcare for all citizens,
regardless of their ability to pay.
- Help Senior Citizens obtain
affordable prescription drugs, by working with
the Drug Companies, and HMOs.
Public Safety:
- Improve relationship with
New York City Police Department.
- Ensure that all Police Officers
receive sensitivity training for the neighborhood
they serve.
- Fight to keep an Independent
Civilian Complaint Review Board, to hear complaints
of Police misconduct.
Employment:
- Increase funding for Youth
Summer Job Program.
- Increase Trade Training
Centers for young people.
- Provide a Living Wage to
improve living standards.
