I have been more fortunate than most insofar
as I have seen,
firsthand, what it means to be an elected official.
My husband, Howard Lasher has been representing
this area first as the NYS Assemblymember for
the 46th Assembly District from 1972 until 1993
and since then as the NYC Councilmember from the
47th Council District. Term limits precludes my
husband from running for an additional term as
Councilmember. I hope to be elected and given
the opportunity to continue the important work
he has been doing for the past thirty years.
For many years I have been involved in our community
and have worked alongside my husband on issues
related to our community. I am deeply committed
to the needs of our senior citizen population
including their healthcare, housing, social and
overall quality of life concerns. I have a sincere
desire to work with my neighbors to make our community
the best possible place to live and bring up their
families. I will work closely with community based,
youth and social services organizations to make
sure the needs of our children, young adults,
families and seniors are not only met but to ensure
that educational, vocational and social opportunities
exist to help them succeed and live healthy productive
lives.
I will work closely with the Police Department
to help keep our neighborhoods safe and free of
dangers that affect the quality of life of all
of us.
I am very proud to be a resident of my community
and hope to be given the opportunity to work on
behalf of all of my friends and neighbors and
to use my position as Councilmember to safeguard
their needs. I will continue to support and bring
new programs into the community to help us all
lead healthy and happy lives.
