As Mayor, Mike Bloomberg
would make leadership, accountability and responsiveness
the guiding principles of his administration. He
has demonstrated a bold management approach in the
private sector and he would do the same for the
city as its 108th Mayor.
There are critical issues the next Mayor must
address. Affordable housing must be built in all
five boroughs. Preventive medicine programs must
be implemented. And we must increase New Yorkers’
access to quality healthcare. But Mike’s No. 1
priority would be improving the public schools.
Students must be tested. Teachers must be re-qualified.
Principals, superintendents and all education
professionals must be held accountable for student
achievement. Our children deserve better than
what they are getting from the public education
system.
Also, Mike would work to renew public confidence
in the NYPD by developing strategies that would
enable the cops and communities to work together
in the fight against crime. CompStat must continue,
with no let-up in the focus on quality-of-life
offenses that are warning signs of bigger, more
violent crimes that sap New Yorkers of their sense
of security.
Accountability would be the cornerstone of city
government. Mike would deploy new technologies
to involve residents in city government and to
improve the productivity of city agencies. The
public would be better served and the municipal
workforce would once again be proud of the services
it delivers. Mike would encourage new and creative
approaches to solve the problems facing New Yorkers.
Mike Bloomberg would be an independent and effective
leader for all New Yorkers.
